Following a traumatic experience, Gaile, a speech therapist, is incapable of feeling any emotion. However, while preparing a video presentation for a scientific conference, she sees herself on screen and is surprised to find suppressed sensations returning to her, primarily feelings of aggression. Gaile decides to try an experiment. With the help of a man and his video camera she stages various provoking situations and shows the result to those involved. Throughout the experience she is unable to perceive the value of normal emotions, or even the possibility that someone may have feelings for her.

One night two strangers creep into Gadgetville, searching for a suitcase belonging to the old traveller dog Klaus. Girl puppy Lotte surprises the strangers who become frightened and flee, dropping the yellow stone they had taken from the suitcase. Klaus found the stone on his last journey in the mountains. Actually there were three stones; the other two were left to Klaus’s friends, the dogs Fred and Ville. Lotte discovers that this is not an ordinary stone. There is a complicated mechanism inside it. Klaus and Lotte decide to find Fred and Ville in order to get the other two stones and solve the mystery. Two strangers follow them. Soon there is another competitor interested in the stones – Paul the Cat. Lotte soon realises that this is much more serious than an ordinary exiting adventure.

When in the 1930’s Latvia the young author Vilis Lācis became wildly popular with his novel The Fisherman’s Son, film director Vilis Lapenieks picked the book as the basis for the country’s first government-sponsored feature film – and it became the cornerstone of national cinema. Even after 70 years the film has an important place in Latvia’s cultural history. Deemed a “relic of bourgeois Latvia”, it was hidden during the soviet years; when independence was regained, the film was once again up on the screen and became a symbol of the youth of the free Latvia.
